Gallagher Bassett has launched a new accident and health division based in the UK, following the full integration and rebranding of Corporate Services Australia (CSA), which it acquired in 2022. Coinciding with the division’s launch, GB has expanded its personal injury operations in Victoria.

The development aims to support the increasing volume and complexity of claims across corporate accident, health, and travel sectors.

Simon Hoskin (pictured), who has overseen the transition since CSA’s acquisition and now leads the division as director of accident and health, said the newly formed unit reflects a commitment to operational focus and service continuity.

“Our team of claim handling experts already handle more than 100,000 claims per year in travel, accident, and health for underwriters, insurers, and corporates. Gallagher Bassett’s investment in our growth since 2022, culminating in the establishment of the accident & health division, means we’re fully equipped to continue delivering excellent service and expertise for our clients at the volume the market is demanding,” he said.

Technology and claims service enhancements

The new division will incorporate several technology-led solutions designed to improve efficiency and client outcomes. These include:

  • An online claims platform that can be tailored to clients
  • Automated tools for decision support
  • Advanced fraud detection mechanisms

The service also includes a team dedicated to managing complaint resolution.

Hoskin said the rebranding would provide consistency and integration with the company’s international operations without altering service delivery.

“The full rebrand of CSA into Gallagher Bassett will help us leverage our global expertise under a unified visual identity while maintaining the same high standards of service and commitment to our travel and accident & health clients,” he said.

Expansion of personal injury services in Victoria

Coinciding with the division’s launch, Gallagher Bassett has expanded its personal injury operations in Victoria with the appointment of Danny Benjamin as manager, client partnerships – Victoria.

Benjamin brings over 20 years of experience and has worked across both national and state-level schemes. His appointment brings the client partnerships team to 16 members, who collectively possess over 200 years of industry experience.

Rising private health premiums impact clients

The division’s establishment comes as private health insurance premiums have seen a sharper rise than the average 3.73% increase announced by the federal government in April.

Research from Canstar found that individual Gold-tier premiums have increased by an average of 13.8%, adding around $442 to annual costs. Family plans under the same tier have risen by an average of $858 since March, reaching approximately $7,207 in June.

While Gold-tier products recorded the highest hikes, Bronze and Silver plans experienced more modest increases between 1.5% and 5.2%. Basic-tier cover saw a slight reduction in costs.
