Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI), part of the Tokio Marine HCC group, has appointed Claire Spiteri as senior underwriter for its professional risks division.

Based in Manchester, Spiteri joins from AIG where she worked as a senior professional indemnity underwriter, covering sectors including professional services, construction, engineering and media. She will report to Frances Eaton, underwriting manager for Professional Risks North.

In her new role, Spiteri will support the development of TMHCCI’s professional indemnity and management liability portfolios. She will also focus on building relationships with brokers and clients across the UK.

Andrew Macpherson, regional underwriting director for professional risks, said the company welcomed Spiteri amid continued growth in the division.

“Our division has expanded significantly over the last few years, and we are committed to servicing markets across the UK as we invest in our regional presence,” he said.

Frances Eaton added that Spiteri’s experience across multiple industries would enhance the team’s capabilities and service offering.

“Claire will be an important addition as we look to provide a comprehensive service to our broking partners,” Eaton said.

Spiteri’s appointment coincides with wider leadership changes at TMHCCI. The company recently promoted Thibaud Hervy to chief executive officer and Simon Button to chief underwriting officer for international operations. These changes, effective immediately and subject to regulatory approval, form part of a broader strategic realignment within Tokio Marine HCC.

Hervy previously served as chief underwriting officer for specialty lines. He takes over the CEO role following the transition of Barry Cook, who now serves as deputy CEO of Tokio Marine HCC. Cook led TMHCCI for more than 20 years, overseeing its growth from a niche player into a $2.8 billion business known for underwriting discipline.

Last year, Tokio Marine HCC – Specialty Group appointed Shaun Russ as head of London Market, crisis management. Russ has more than 15 years of experience in the London Market, with previous roles at AXA XL, Chubb Global Markets and Lockton Companies International.
